Inferring Pulsar Periods from Synchro-curvature Spectra

چکیده

The period and the derivative of a pulsar are critical magnitudes for defining properties magnetospheric size plasma dynamics. light cylinder, magnetic field intensity nearby it, curvature radius all depend on these timing properties, shape observed high-energy synchro-curvature emission. Therefore, radiative pulsars inextricably linked to them. This fact poses question how well does given pulsar's spectral energy distribution embeds information parameters, if so, whether we can deduce them they have not been measured directly. is relevant possibly constrain potential candidates among unidentified $\gamma$-ray sources. We consider well-measured spectra blinding us from knowledge their address this by using our model that was proven able fit population. find in majority cases studied (8/13), spin constrained within range about one order magnitude, which real lies. In other cases, there degeneracy no be constrained. used facilitate blind search pulsed signals.

Reviewing Pulsar Spectra

Pulsar research must be considered 35 years after the detection of pulsars a mature science, where the basic questions have been raised and discussed. One would hope that many if not all generic and important problems have found some kind of answer and that scientific work can concentrate now on specific details requiring more in depth investigation. We know, however, that this picture is not t...

Pulsar Timing and Spacetime Curvature

We analyze the effect of weak field gravitational waves on the timing of pulsars, with particular attention to gauge invariance, that is, to the effects that are independent of the choice of coordinates. We find: (i) the Doppler shift cannot be separated into gauge invariant gravitational wave and kinetic contributions; (ii) a gauge invariant separation can be made for the time derivative of th...

Stability of pulsar rotational and orbital periods

Millisecond and binary pulsars are the most stable astronomical standards of frequency. They can be applied to solving a number of problems in astronomy and time-keeping metrology including the search for a stochastic gravitational wave background in the early universe, testing general relativity, and establishing a new time-scale. The full exploration of pulsar properties requires that proper ...

Pulsar spectra of radio emission

We have collected pulsar flux density observations and compiled spectra of 281 objects. The database of Lorimer et al. (1995) has been extended to frequencies higher than 1.4 GHz and lower than 300 MHz. Our results show that above 100 MHz the spectra of the majority of pulsars can be described by a simple power law with average value of spectral index < α >= −1.8 ± 0.2. A rigorous analysis of s...

Curvature radiation in pulsar magnetospheric plasma

We consider the curvature radiation of the point-like charge moving relativistically along curved magnetic field lines through a pulsar magnetospheric electron-positron plasma. We demonstrate that the radiation power is largely suppressed as compared with the vacuum case, but still at a considerable level, high enough to explain the observed pulsar luminosities. The emitted radiation is polariz...
